In the epicenter of west coast technology -the Silicon
Valley, getting around the new wave of changes is an acquired ability. We, as
students and residences of this area, need to learn, adapt and utilizes the new
technology that emerges out of our back yard. Together, we can be ready for
when the next technological innovation comes. Some programming languages am
familiar with are Java and C, with a hope of learning C++ in the near future as
well.
What I find most exciting about programming is that nowadays it plays
some sort of part in anything done in the world. From design and creation to
implementation, programming is involved at every stage of a product’s life. As
such, it opens the opportunity to participate in a large array of projects.
With my current programming skills I believe I can create programs that would
be useful in the bioinformatics field. Having venture into bioinformatics, I
know how difficult it is to learn the workings of nucleotides in DNA. A
possible program that can be develop could be for the visualization of
nucleotides that show the effects of their interchangeability. Such a program
would be useful in any introductory science class, modifying the program to fit
the class curriculum.
